We are a community choir based in Merchiston Castle School.
We are rebuilding the choir after a number of members retired during the COVID pandemic. So new members are always welcome and in particular new gentlemen would be particularly welcomed!
Auditions are not required, making the choir unusual for one which performs the repertoire it does.
There is a large range of ages represented in the choir. Many members live locally and although we have a strong connection with the Merchiston Castle School there is no suggestion that members need
to be connected with it. There is an equally large range of musical experience and ability. Members are expected to attend most rehearsals, and to sing in the concerts.
The Choir normally performs major works from the classical choral repertoire, though it occasionally makes ventures into lighter music, such as songs from shows or opera. Concerts are usually
accompanied by an organist.
